Touch screen epos systems

There are a number of companies who specialise is touch screen epos sytems. These systems are available from traditional cash register establishments or from software houses who develop the epos software. Some software houses sell it through a dealer network only. Others are willing to sell these through resellers.

There are 2 types of touch screen epos systems

1. EPROM/Rom Based
The cash register dealers would normally sell these. These are made by those manufacturers who specialise in the cash register/epos market. Companies like Sharp, Sam4s, Casio, Geller, PI Electronique and others. Some consider these to be far more reliable than the PC based systems because of the way they have been built and "one" software only on the system.

2. PC Based
As the name suggest, these are predominantly Microsoft Windows based PCs running on Windows xp-pro with the Epos Software installed. There are few software also available that will run on MAC windows. These systems offer greater flexibilty in reporting and configuring the epos system. A lot more peripheral devices and system can be made to connect to epos software.

Touch screen epos systems is new way for most businesses in retail or hospitality. The system you choose will depend on your budget and the level of expertise within your organistaion. Suffice to say if you have a good knowledge of IT and in particular Windows opearing system then PC based would be more suitable.
